1.  OUT OF BOUNDS  (Rule  18)

A ball  is out of bounds if it lies:

a) Beyond the perimeter of the course.

b) Over the fences on  the  1st , 4th   and 14th 

c) On or over the path or  white line/stakes behind the  green when playing the 4th 

2.  IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule  16)

a) Building foundations within the trees. 

b) The tarmac approach, concrete walls and guard rails of the reservoir on  the 14th    When a ball  lies  on the tarmac entrance to the  reservoir, relief may be  taken by dropping the ball at the  side adjoining the 14th fairway, within one  club-length of the  nearest point of relief no nearer the hole

3.  LATERAL PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)

Marked by red stakes and/or a red line.

4.   GROUND  UNDER  REPAIR (Rule  16)

a) Deep ruts and deep tyre marks made by greenkeeping equipment.

b) All areas circled by white lines.

c) The practice putting green is a “wrong green” and relief must be taken (but is out of bounds when playing the 4th hole)

5.  MARKED AREA ON THE  14TH HOLE

A ball lying in the marked area behind the railings on the 14th  hole where the  railings do not interfere with the stance or swing may be dropped in the dropping zone (20 yards  behind).

6.  SLOPE  ON 16th  HOLE  DOWN FROM  THE  RESERVOIR

A ball lying on the slope leading down from the  reservoir on the  16th hole  that  lies  within the  area designated by  blue posts/blue lines may  be  lifted, cleaned and  dropped at the  nearest point  of level ground no nearer the hole without penalty. (This will  usually require going back up the  slope).

7.  SPRINKLER HEADS

All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and  relief from interference by them may  be obtained under Rule 16.1 . In addition, if a ball  lies off the putting green but  not in  a penalty area  and such  an obstruction on or within two  club-lengths of the putting green and  within two club-lengths of the  ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows:

The ball  shall  be  lifted and  dropped within one club length of the nearest point of relief  which

  1. is not nearer the hole
  2. avoids such  intervention and
  3. is not in a penalty area or on a putting green.

The ball may  be  cleaned when so 

8.  PROTECTION OF YOUNG  TREES

If a staked tree interferes with a player’s stance or  the area of his intended swing the ball  MUST be lifted without penalty and  dropped in accordance with the procedure described in Rule 16. The ball  may  be cleaned when so lifted.
